Cumbrian Ceramics Exhibition: 22.11.2016 – 8.01.2017

Cumbrianblog

This exhibition is the largest collection of Cumbrian potters and ceramicists that has ever been put together. It will be representative of almost all the professional potters in Cumbria today, many with national and international reputations and also include work by some of the newest ceramicists in the County.  To date there are over 45 confirmed participants whose work ranges from sculptural to domestic pottery.   The exhibition will run from the 22nd November to the 8th January.  The preview will be on the 22nd November and include a fund raising event ( empty bowls donated by the potters to be filled with either soup or sweet and a silent auction of donated pots/ceramics) in aid of Mary’s Meals.  Local band The Misdemeanours, which includes Gwen Bainbridge one of the exhibitors, will be playing live during the evening.

Among the potters represented are – Jim Malone, Paul Scott, Roger Lewis, Alison Ogden, Maggie Angus Berkowitz, Alvin Irving, Rebecca Callis, Syl Macro, Bob Park, Gwen Bainbridge and Mary Chapplehow.

It is hoped that this exhibition will become an annual event showcasing the many talented Cumbrian artists.

Mary’s Meals

www.marysmeals.org.uk

Is a Scottish charity founded in 2002 by Mangus MacFarlane-Barrow to provide a meal in a place of learning to attract chronically poor children into the classroom where they receive an education which can set them free from poverty in later life.  Because of its army of volunteers Mary’s Meals is able to spend 93p of every £1 on its charitable activities. Ingredients are sourced locally whenever possible, to help the local economy and cooked and served by volunteers.  Working now in 12 countries across Africa, Asia, Latin America and the Caribbean Mary’s Meals deliver over 1.1 million meals daily.  Just £12.20 gives a child a daily meal for the whole school year.  Every bowl bought at the preview will help to feed a child in education for almost a whole year.
