Benefit Art Auction: “ARTISTS FOR THE ARTS CENTRE” 22 February 2014 (23/2/14 – RESULTS – £4,173 raised!!!)

Many of the best-known artists in Wales are contributing work to be sold in a special auction on 22nd February, in the Morlan Centre. From pieces worth thousands, to pieces for those on a very limited budget, there is something for everyone in this sale, thanks to the desire to support the Arts Centre and the generosity of heart which has prompted so many artists to give. The proceeds are to swell the legal fighting fund of the Arts Centre Campaign Group, now in its tenth month, but with much still to do.

A mixed auction with many paintings and some ceramics by, at present, Meri Wells, Wendy Lawrence (shown above), Sandy Brown and Joanna Bond

Statement from Auriel Martin

“Auriel is truly grateful for the support shown by the public and the artistic community over the past 9 months.  The end is now hopefully in sight with a 28th February date for her return to work pencilled.  She would have been unable to defend her position without the support (both emotional and financial) that she received from friends old and new and the artworks that have been donated for auction are a precious resource given in good spirit and received with humble thanks and appreciation.

Mae Auriel yn hynod ddiolchgar am y gefnogaeth a ddangoswyd gan y cyhoedd a’r gymuned artistig dros y 9 mis diwethaf.  Gobeithir bod pethau yn dod i ben o’r diwedd gyda’r dyddiad o 28ain Chwefror wedi’i glustnodi iddi ddychwelyd i’w gwaith.  Ni fyddai wedi medru amddiffyn ei sefyllfa heb y gefnogaeth (emosiynol ac ariannol) a dderbyniodd gan gyfeillion hen a newydd ac mae’r  gwaith celf a gyfrannwyd ar gyfer yr ocsiwn yn eitemau gwerthfawr a roddwyd gydag ewyllys da ac a dderbyniwyd gyda diolch diymhongar a gwerthfawrogiad llwyr.”
