Barn Galleries : Artspace 2012 including ceramics and sculpture
Artspace began in 1991 with 12 artist friends and now shows over 80 artists in the gardens, barn and gallery. Includes ceramics, sculpture, paintings, jewellery and other art.
We joined The Oxfordshire Artweeks, the largest open studio event in the UK, as the only venue in Henley on Thames and ARTSPACE quickly became a popular exhibition for both artists and collectors. The range and standard of artists gave us a hearty reputation and the distinctive rural setting (and cakes) brought in visitors from near and far.
We only show work by professional working artists but are open to any medium. Our most popular artform is sculpture due the gracious and unique setting of BARN GALLERIES with its large expanse of outdoor space. It is a haven for sculpture seekers.
ARTSPACE in May, biennial from 2012, is our major event but we host a growing, vibrant programme of exhibitions and cultural events. ARTSPACE has been filmed for the BBC's Country File; Barn Galleries has featured in numerous publications and was a finalist in a NFU Rural Tourist Attraction competition. Visitors to ARTSPACE are invited to donate to charity. In this way, we have raised thousands of pounds for charities: NACOA (children of alcoholic parents), Cancer Research, SOS Children's Villages, Diabetes UK, Thames Valley Air Ambulance and CLIC Sargent.
ARTSPACE has hosted several international residencies. The launch of ARTSPACE INDIA culminated in a seminar by Ramachandran and our visitors being astonished by a pit firing by our 4 resident artists. BARN GALLERIES supported artists from Zimbabwe for over 10 years and hosted several sculptors for month long residences over this period.
