<br>‘Between Devon and Dumfries’
This set of 10 ceramic panels, made by Alice Kettle and Alex McErlain, illustrate aspects of their creative journey undertaken between 2007 & 2017. The journey began with firing slipware in Doug Fitch’s wood kiln in Devon and ended firing in the Fitch’s wood kiln in Scotland ten years later. The panels take their inspiration from the ‘Tring Tiles’, a collection of 12th century works in the British Museum. Adopting the physical format and sgraffito techniques of the originals these modern interpretations explore the narrative of a collaboration that had unexpected consequences.
