"Goudse Keramiek Dagen" (Gouda Ceramics Day's) - 29th International Ceramics Festival
20 May 2004
20 May - 21 May 2004

Introduction:
This major ceramics fair takes place annually in Gouda, Holland and has
grown to well over 100 potters participating, from many countries, as
well as from Holland. A list of those who have been accepted by February 2004 is shown below.
Gouda Competitions:
Since the beginning all artists submitted one or two pieces which were
judged by a panel of international judges. The public is invited to see
a presentation and an overall view of the unique ceramics at the "Het
Catharina Gasthuis Museum".
The museum opens 10.00 till 17.00, Thursday and Friday The art pieces
have to be picked up between 16.00 - 17.00 on Friday, the Museum closes
exactly at 17.00 hours. Also in this exhibit are being shown what is
being offered for sale at the Gouda Market. The winner from the
previous year makes the prizes for 2004.
Public Competitions:
Visitors of the Gouda Ceramics Festival can participate for free to
judge who has the nicest, interesting, skillful booth and also at the
museum they can make their choice of the best art piece. Both forms are
available at different booths and in the museum. This public prize is
named after the deceased Peter Selhorst, winner of both prizes in 2002,
The Public opinion rate for the last years are between 8 and 8.5
Transportation:
The International Gouda Pottery Festival is held on Assumption Day,
Thursday, in Holland a long weekend, and because of that most people
have Friday off and can enjoy a 4 day weekend. We would recommend to
come by train, Gouda has a large train station and can be reached all
over the Netherlands. From the train station it is about a 10 minute
walk to the Pottery Festival. From the train station you take the
direction Centre to the Kleiweg . The Festival is located around the
City Town Hall, which dates from 1664. If you arrive by car you will
find different directions to park at a parking facility. We strongly
recommend to come by train!
