In the heart of winter, when the high passes are closed and the flight
across the snow clad mountains an awesome sight, only the local
inhabitants, dressed in their finest clothes and a few visitors find
their way to the sheltered Indus Valley to celebrate the winter
festivals. Visits arranged to other monasteries including Aichi.

The 'Mingei' Tradition in Central China

Visit Suzhou, Guilin & the tribal areas of Guizhou Province & Jingdezhen the porcelain capital of China
From the classical gardens of Suzhou we travel to Guilin where
classical Chinese painting is made a reality. Climbing into the
secluded, mountainous, tribal area of Guizhou Province we visit
musicians and artists in weaving, embroidery, batik, indigo and silver.
Each tribe having their own style of dress and architecture. Thence to
the ceramic areas of Changsha and Jizhou, famous for its black wares,
and Jingdezhen. (Option for additional stay in JDZ to pot)

Kashgar, Khotan and across the Taklamakan Desert to Kuche and Dunhuang
Ancient civilizations buried in the sands of the Taklamakan Desert,
fortresses and frescoed Buddhist cave complexes, mosques, minarets,
carpets, silk, metalwork and jade.
