I am often asked about studios to let: I will try and compile a list over time on this page of studio complexes that are worth asking if they have any studios available:

2. Bow Arts - often have a range of studios available and registration is free.
You need to register with us first, (see the ‘apply for a studio’ section ) then we can arrange for you to see the currently available and soon to be available spaces.
Once you have registered we will contact you with a list of what is available. After that you need to get in touch with us to make a viewing appointment. "

4. 401½ Studios
For over fourty years 401½ has provided studios for fine and applied artists and designers. The project, started in 1971 by Michael Haynes is housed in a Victorian warehouse situated on one edge of Larkhall Park in Clapham. Wandsworth Road is part of an ancient road from the Thames leading to Kingston and the South West........
The 401½ studios provide an appropriate working environment for fine and applied artists. The impressive list of current and past members clearly testifies this.
The position of the studios provides easy access to central London with bus and underground services as well as the British Rail trains.
Open Days are held at least once a year where members can exhibit work.

ACAVA provides studios in a wide variety of buildings, many converted from industrial factory premises, others from offices and shops, a school, a vicarage, a laundry and potting sheds. It has also built some of the few purpose designed studios developed in recent years. You have to register with them and submit a statement of practice so it's a bit more formal.

Commonwealth Studios is a select collection of well-located artist studios; a number of which are fully self-contained.

Prices start from £34.50 per week (all inclusive apart from metered electricity).

11. Yorkshire Artspace studios - Sheffield
Exchange Place Studios is our new city centre studio complex and artists have started moving in. This lovely 6 floor Art Deco building was built in 1927 for WH Smith and has beautiful big windows to the North, South, East and West with views across the city. We have created 63 individual and shared studios with 24/7 access.
There are three staircases, one being very wide, and a passenger lift. There is a loading bay to the side and in the basement. The building is on the District Heating System so will be economically warm. There are communal sinks on each floor. There are project spaces on the ground floor as well as an office which is open Monday to Friday 9.30am-12.30pm for deliveries and enquiries. There are free WiFi hotspots on each each floor.
The building is on Exchange Street in historic Castlegate facing on to Victoria Quays, a five minute walk to the station, close to most city centre bus routes and with limited contract parking in the basement for those who find public transport difficult. The Castlegare area will shortly undergo a complete transformation with the closure of the markets and the revealing of the remains of Sheffield Castle.
Rent is £7 per sq ft p.a. inc VAT and rates (eg £117 per month for a 200 sq ft solo studio or around£85 per month for a space in a shared studio). Heat, light and power is charged on top – this currently works out about £5 per month on average in our other, similar studios.
