Craft Pottery Charitable Trust 2013

The trustees invite applicants to apply for the Annual Grant Scheme. The closing date for the Trust grant scheme is usually 15 December in each year, but applicants should check exact dates with Liz Gale.
The scheme is open to all ceramists, whether or not members of the CPA. The Trust has two main grant schemes; an annual grant scheme in which awards of up to £1,000 in value are made and a £500 bursary scheme for new graduate makers. This marketing co-operative based in Bristol is seeking new ceramics and ceramic sculpture to exhibit in its high profile shop. Its £Guest Potter£ programme involves exhibiting work of selected applicants for a mutually agreed period of 1 or more months. POTTERS also welcome applications from professional potters, ceramists and sculptors for membership in the co-operative.

POTTERS is a unique shop providing since 1996 an enormous range of hand crafted ceramics, both decorative and functional, and ceramic sculpture made by professional craftspeople of England and Wales. .

2013 Melbourne Festival Art & Architecture Trail

Don't miss Melbourne Festival! Now into its ninth year the Festival is eagerly awaited by local people and visitors from far afield, Melbourne Festival is the highlight of South Derbyshire's cultural calendar.

The Call for Entries is now open for the 2013 Melbourne Festival Art & Architecture Trail, which is highlight of the 4 week Festival, sees over 70 local homes, businesses, halls & churches invite over 100 artists to exhibit in this gem of a town hidden away between Derby, Nottingham and Leicester. The whole town comes alive during the Festival with the stunning artwork complimented by music, performances, great food and a warm welcome.

The Trail takes place on 14 & 15 September and aims to feature artists creating 2d and 3d in an eclectic mix of styles. To apply for selection please submit images of your work to info@melbournefestival.co.uk by 31 March 2013. All work must be original, interesting and for sale, over 4000 visitors come each year and we aim to feature art and craft which people will want to buy! The Selectors meet in April and places are confirmed by end May.
The fee of £75 due by end June to confirm places.

Soho Flea Market - Creative talent wanted for City Showcase's Soho Flea Market

I am writing today to introduce you to City Showcase: Soho Flea Market, running for its second year on Sunday 2nd June 2013. City Showcase highlights unique, up and coming creative talent and after last year's incredible success we have announced Soho Flea Market's return for 2013. Taking place in the heart of London's Soho, City Showcase: Soho Flea Market is the most glamorous flea market around with new and emerging creatives displaying and showcasing their work in market stalls in Dean Street (closed to traffic) and in participating retailers, cafes and bars in Dean Street, Frith Street and Old Compton Street. Musical showcases and comedians will perform on the City Showcase outdoor stage, and businesses in Soho are supporting the event by celebrating new creative talent in-house.
Stakeholder businesses include The Groucho Club, Soho Club and Townhouse, Blacks, Dean Street Studios, Dean Street's Pizza Express Soho Jazz Club, Soho Theatre, Crossrail and we are supported by Westminster City Council and Soho Estates. Soho Flea Market is working Kids Co as its charity partner who provide practical, emotional and educational support to vulnerable inner-city children. We work alongside Alchemy Lifestyle who have produced a substantial promotional campaign across all media including social media. In 2012, its inaugural year, Soho Flea Market enjoyed great press and had about 15,000 along to enjoy the day. We were featured in Time Out, Cosmopolitan, Evening Standard and Company magazine.

Black Swan Arts Open 2013

Black Swan Arts is inviting submissions to the 2013 Arts Open competition and exhibition. The competition, now run annually, will encompass a diverse range of contemporary works including painting, sculpture, ceramics, textiles, jewellery, print, photography and digital media.
The Open attracts some of the best artists and makers working in the UK, and will be judged by respected arts' practitioners and academics. There will be a first prize of £750 with further sponsored prizes including a People's Choice Award, voted for by the public.
A maximum of 4 works can be submitted and work in any medium will be considered. Online submission (£10 per entry) will be available very soon so please check our website for further information.

Submission Deadline is 1st April (Easter Monday).
Judging will take place on Saturday 6th April and Prize-giving on Friday 26 April.

V&A Ceramics Residency, Call for Proposals

The V&A is inviting applications from emerging UK-based studio ceramicists who wish to develop their practice in designing and making ceramics through working with the V&As collections and through public engagement activities.
The Residency will be based in a purpose-built studio in the Ceramics galleries, at the V&A in London.

This is part of an exciting new programme of residencies specifically situated in the Ceramics galleries.
This Residency will take place over a six-month period from October 2013 to March 2014 in London.

New and Emerging Makers Competition & Visiting Artist Award 2013

When:International Ceramics Festival 28th-30th June 2013

The Potcalys New and Emerging Makers Competition & Visiting Artist Award 2013: Sponsored by Potclays Ltd & Wales Arts International The Emerging Makers Competition is an opportunity for UK based potters and artists working with clay, who have graduated from college within the past five years, to present a Powerpoint slideshow about their work at the 2013 International Ceramics Festival.
Six makers will be selected to make presentations at the festival. The presentations will last 15 minutes each (including a Q&A session).

From the six selected, two makers (one based in wales) will be selected to take part in our visiting artist awards scheme. The Welsh based artist will take part in a residency at the Archie Bray Foundation, USA. The Uk based award winner will take part in a residency at the Waikato Society of Potters, New Zealand. Details of the Waikato Society of Potters residency will be available shortly.

The Archie Bray Foundation Visiting Artist Award for a Welsh based maker:
This will take place in November December 2013 at the Archie Bray Foundation in Montana. The Archie Bray foundation will provide studio space, accommodation and the use of a car during the residency. ICF will cover the cost of the air-flight and provide a small stipend allowance of £20 per day.
The award winner will be expected to work on their proposed project during their stay at the Archie Bray Foundation and will hold an open studio at the end of the two month period to show the work/ideas created during that time frame.
They may also be required to give a talk about their work to other artists at the Archie Bray Foundation.
Potclays Ltd, will provide the majority of materials necessary for this award through their US suppliers. The deadline for the Emerging Makers Award is the 31st of March - now 29 April

For shoppers looking for unique handmade gifts in glass, jewellery, textiles, ceramics, lighting and specialist food. The day will also feature live music and street performance to provide additional attractions for families and visitors.

Jane Phillips Award

Every two years, the Jane Phillips Award seeks nominations for ambitious artists across the Visual and Applied Arts at the early stages of their career. It is essential that those applying are producing work of high quality, have a clear vision and a strong commitment to career development. Candidates must be nominated for the Award by a tutor, employer or other professional and fulfill the criteria that includes; living in Wales, aged between 18-30 years and demonstrate an outstanding ability or potential in either the Visual or Applied Arts.
The Jane Phillips Award has recruited a host of respected mentors and talent-spotters across the Visual and Applied Arts that will assist at both the assessment and development stage of each application. Each year of the Award there will be a guest selector; a respected professional working within the arts.

The launch of CRAFT is in response to increasing demand from retailers searching for high quality products with provenance; items which are truly unique and original; objects with heart, soul and individuality. CRAFT is the place where professional buyers will discover just such products. CRAFT fills a gap in the UK market for a high quality, juried trade event which will enable leading Makers and Artisans to meet a substantial audience of international retailers, galleries, museums, professional buyers and collectors within a dedicated trade event in London. Craft will be run for Clarion Events by Piyush Suri, Founder and Director of Handmade in Britain with close support from Ian Rudge, Development Director at Clarion Events and Co-Founder of 100% Design and Tent London. Between them, Ian and Piyush have a wealth of contacts and experience within the world of Craft and events.

Potential Visitors: 14,000 trade buyers regularly attend Home and Top Drawer at the busiest buying time of the commercial year. Delamore Arts and Sculpture Park is based at Cornwood in South Devon. Each summer we bring art and the public together within this idyllic setting on the fringes of Dartmoor. Open every day in May, come and browse and perhaps buy one of the many pieces created by local, national, and international artists.

We always welcome applications by artists to exhibit, and our aim is for 'fresh art by living artists'. If you wish to be considered please send/email images of your work to us at any time.
