Artists Statement

Suffused with colour and tempered with black the pots get larger and louder with each passing month.   With black comes strength and a growing sense of the absurd; I can barely carry some pots.  
Marrying selected photographs, largely from the US, with decals and open- stock transfers continues to excite and stimulate the mark making.

Technical Information

Slip decorated hand built earthenware using oxides, print, own sourced and open-stock decals and liquid bright gold.

Oxidised to 1155, 1040, 755 in electric kilns.

Career Background, Memberships, Awards

During and following degree and post graduate study at Edinburgh College of Art the work has been exhibited widely from South America to Japan and mainland Europe.

Receiving awards from the Scottish Arts Council has enabled research and exhibition opportunities.  

The pots are regularly appearing in various publications and catalogues and can be found in public and private collections around the world including Faenza Italy, Vallauris, France, Aberdeen Art Gallery, Ceramic Collection Aberystwyth and the British Council.

I have lectured at Scottish and English Universities.
