Current Work

My love of nature and the landscape have a strong influence on my work. I manipulate the basic shapes observed in nature in order to create hand built vessels and candle holders with a sculptural feel for display indoors or in the garden.

I also produce a small selection of domestic ware uniquely designed for specific uses.

Past Activities

Past Activities

1996 - Family Drop-in day, at Derby Museum and Art Gallery. Pop Art was the theme of the Gallery's exhibitions and related activities as Part of the City's Art Festival. Here the activity needed to be quick and an attractive result easily attainable. With these objectives in mind, I made a set of moulds. The participants pressed brightly coloured clay into the moulds, to create Pop Art jewellery.
1990 - Artist in School for the day. Pupils watched demonstrations of work in progress in the morning. In the afternoon groups created their own fantasy creatures.
1987 - 'Open for Action'. Two weeks of family workshops. Pottery, jewellery, printing and mixed media.
1982-85 - Teaching. Rhein Middle School (8-13 years), RAF Laarbruch, Germany. Creative Studies 3D and pottery. Organised and led lunchtime school pottery club and pottery evening classes for adults.
1979 - Set up and organised a children's Art Club at Shawbury, (4-16 year olds). A mix of whole group, family group and individual activities worked well.
1976 - 78 - Volunteer and supply teacher at The Andrew Humphrey Primary School Gutersloh, Germany. Led craft sessions at the Youth club on the RAF station.

Intermittently, I have worked on a voluntary basis in schools.
