Current Work and Availability

STATEMENT
I enjoy developing forms which reflect and reinforce my illustrative sense of decoration. Incised marks in the clay, poured and sprayed layers of slips, all contribute to my ceramic compositions.
The use of bold images, seek to reflect and augment the shape and character of each piece and follow the rhythm of the form.
I have recently been looking at some of my two dimensional images and transferring them into three, adding a whole new seam of creative possibilities to my work.

CURRENT WORK
Cheerfully decorated thrown slipware and extruded dishes, vases, seats and tables.

Technical Information

Red earthenware clay, glaze fired to 1100. Slips poured, sprayed, brushed or sponged. Transparent glazes, or/ and areas of matt glazes, often applied with a slip trailer.

Career Background and Personal History

1972 - Year in NW Sicily helping to set up a pottery in Scopello (village regeneration project for Dartington Hall school leavers). Making wood fired slip decorated pottery.
1977 - BA Hons. 1st in ceramics at Bath Academy of Art.
1978 - Set up pottery in Galloway S.W. Scotland
