Other Information:
Workshops, courses and demonstrations are run from the studio in Swellendam. They do travel to other venues. Teambuilding workshops (corporate and special interest) - Explorations with Clay. Accommodation at the studio in a self-contained two-bedroom cottage.

Technical Information

Two oil-fired, fibre-lined kilns. One of 40cu ft and a rolling hood kiln of 100cu ft. Both firing on paraffin using Rotavac burners. Bisque firing to 1 000ºC, glaze firing to cone 12 (1 300ºC plus). Mostly Feldspathic glazes - standard range of 6 basics. David does all the making and Felicity the decorating with a range of oxides, pigments, slips and glazes.

History

David and Felicity have been making pots full-time since 1973 and until eight years ago were in Johannesburg, South Africa. Their move to Swellendam in the Western Cape, South Africa at the end of 1996 was a natural extension of their life together. A comprehensive history is on their website:
