Artist's Statement
My work is based upon and flows from my inner life of prayer,
meditation and spiritual discipline. For this I concentrate on the
spiritual heart, which for me is the source of joy, peace and oneness.
These qualities I hope to offer to people who see my work. Current Work
Early projects with porcelain and red earthenware have largely been
replaced with pieces now being made from white earthenware bodies and
finished with bright surfaces, both engobes and glazes. My work
includes both ‘narrative' pieces - figures and animals, as well as
vases/containers for flowers.
In my vases I aim to honour flowers in a unique way that is also rich
in innocent humour. These vessels are also an opportunity to use clay's
special qualities of bendability and squidgeability - a change from my
normal practice of intensive modelling and moulding with the narrative
works. Selected Exhibitions
2004 - ‘Bloom' at blaze, Bristol. (Solo) Awards
