Artists Statement
All my pots are mostly thrown on the potters wheel. The shapes are then freely manipulated and incised marks are applied to the soft stoneware clay to give a subtle, tactile clay surface. I am fascinated by experimenting with high fired glazes and have developed a method of applying the different colours in multiple layers to produce a rhythmic pattern. The shapes I make are cylindrical forms tall thin vessels, curved bowls, tea bowls and large platters purposely simplified to allow the surface to express itself. Current Work
