Artist Statement
My current work combines the use of vibrantly coloured matt glazes with a glossier delicate pale blue glaze. I have set out to produce a range of work which has a bright and contemporary feel to it, and which does not allude to the clichιs of traditional pottery. The work is thrown in porcelain using oxidised glazes in an electric kiln and is strongly linked to function, although it is not always strictly utilitarian. My pieces reflect a liking for detail and precision and I utilize turning to emphasize these qualities.
