I have been making ceramics since 1968.
I first studied at York School of Art and afterwards went on to gain a first class honours degree at Cardiff College of Art in 1971. I later returned in 1979 to work there as a technician in the Ceramics Department.
In 2009, after 30 years of living and working in Cardiff, I retired and moved to Gloucestershire and spent the first year building and setting up my workshop, where I am now making on a full time basis.
Most of my work is thrown in porcelain using high fired oxidised glazes in an electric kiln, and is strongly linked to function, although it is not always strictly utilitarian.
My current work combines the use of vibrantly coloured matt glazes in conjunction with a delicate pale blue tin glaze. I aim to make work which has a bright and contemporary feel to it and tries to avoid some of the clichés associated with traditional studio pottery.
