Current Work

My work is contemporary decorative domestic ware thrown on a wheel. I particularly enjoy bowls and jugs which offer inviting surfaces to decorate. Designs are freely derived from my own drawings and observations of colour over the years. All are ovenproof and dishwasher safe. Commissions accepted.

Technical Information

I use red earthenware clay covered with slips and brush decorated with oxides and under­glaze colours. The work is clear-glazed and fired to 1100deg. C. in an electric kiln.

History

After leaving school I gained a French Honours Degree at Manchester University, took a post­graduate secretarial course and worked in secretarial then market research and information posts.

After becoming seriously interested in pottery in the mid-1970's I spent one year studying on the Art Foundation course at Manchester Polytechnic and gained a place on the 3­D Degree course, but being unable to finance three more years set up my own workshop in shared premises in Hale, Cheshire, in 1980. In 1982 I moved to a shop and workshop in Warwick, and in 1990 to Butlers Marston, Warwickshire where I have my present studio/workshop, open to the public.

I am a member of the Gloucestershire Guild of Craftsmen and the Craft Potters Association.
