Artist's statement

Artist's statement

Round or square? My work is both. In my current work I explore many facets of the square and round vessel - in one off pieces and in tableware that reflect this dedication. Most of the pieces are thrown, squared and rethrown. The work process is a mixture of throwing and altering, rethrowing and realtering. I currently also experiment with painting on clay.
Every piece that leaves my wheel is unique and has its own character, which is also created by the firing. All my work is sodafired at 1280 degrees.
