Personal Statement

I try to communicate the enthusiasm for what I do within my work without overindulging in concept or philosophy. I like throwing and think of my work as a continual exploration of the throwing process, but I also believe that the variety of other techniques available should be exploited.

I embrace the opportunity to produce something new every day, whether it is a variation on something I have already made or to throw something
completely different.

Currently I am enjoying reconstructing thrown pieces and I continually look to blur the boundary between the decorative and functional. Using a limited palette of coloured slips, I define and enhance the form and surface of my pots through sgraffito markings while also continuing to investigate raku and smoke firing processes on porcelain.
