Current Work

Steve Woodhead has been potting since 1980, and became a fellow of the Craft Potters Association in 1993.

Steve makes a range of hand thrown domestic stoneware. The great chefs on TV have created a move back to the kitchen to enjoy great food and have fun preparing it. His new range of classic domestic ware has been designed to embrace this new environment.

In addition, Steve has designed a range of “funky” pieces to create the essence of individualism, uniqueness and most importantly – fun.

The author of the highly acclaimed publication, “The Teapot Book”, Steve continues to make a variety of teapots exploring the teapot theme.

Other Information:
Steve is a natural presenter and has been giving demonstrations to various pottery groups & associations throughout the country. His enthusiasm and passion for his work is clearly visible and audiences thoroughly enjoy his lively sessions. He actively encourages the audiences to interact with the demonstration as he strongly believes that the duty of an artist in todays society is to educate and inform the public into their art/craft.

Demonstrations include those to:
Kent Potters
Southern Ceramics Group
Norfolk Potters
West Country Potters
North Wales Potters
He is keen to extend this to other countries.

Technical Information

The majority of my pieces are thrown on the wheel using Valentines "Earthstone", based on the famous Harry Davis Body. The pieces are biscuit fired in an electric kiln before being glazed and finally fired to cone 9 (~1260 oC)

History
