Artist's statement

I am constantly curious and fascinated by the medium I work with, it’s infinite, and suits my need for multiple working methods to achieve the aesthetics that I’m after.
I have two main bodies of work, thrown functional ware which seems unconsciously to capture the  mood of my adopted home, Malta, and conceptual work.
My conceptual pieces are produced through a lengthy design and development process, usually triggered by social interaction, news items and often display my British sense of humour. Techniques in their making may include throwing, slip casting, extruding or slab building.

Stoneware thrown functional items and conceptual work with multiple working methods fired in an electric kiln to cone 6 oxidation.

In 2012 I will be looking for a shop/gallery in the UK to stock my work and will be formatting an online shop.

Technical Information

I fire to cone 6 in two electric kilns and achieve variegated colours by applying multiple layers of glazes that I mix myself.  I like a surface with depth and detail creating minute landscapes.
