Artist's Statement
My work is concerned with the generative energy of being. I investigate
the relationship between the energies of the natural environment and
humanity as integral elements of an all-embracing Nature, its systems
of natural existences, forces, changes, and events. Current Work
Primarily
woodfired hand formed slab or wheel thrown vessels which are aesthetic
and functional in nature. While most forms, such as cups, bowl,
platters and vases are incised with archetypal imagery, large bowls are
often heavily carved. Technical Information
The work is fired in various woodkilns, such as those of Peter Callas,
Joy Brown, Pascal Chmelar, Roger Baumann and Jasper Brinton, for 24
hours to one week in duration. Mainly white stoneware and procelain,
glazed with shinos, tenmoku and ash glazes. History
Born and raised in rural Derbyshire, England. Studied ceramics in high
school and sculpture at Derby College of Art, Cardiff College of Art,
an Art Teaching Certificate from University of South Wales, Cardiff and
a Master's Degree from Yale University. Selected Exhibitions
