Artist's Statement

Nature has always been the ultimate art form for me, something that many aspire to imitate or reproduce. I too draw my inspiration from the natural world, from it's constant changes and cycles, from its magnificent surfaces - suppressing my jealousy of this uncultivated beauty. Instead of rivaling nature I aim to complement her.

Current Work

Zuzka produces hand-build functional and sculptural ceramics. These one off pieces are often put through several firings to achieve the right tactility and depth. She works in both stoneware and earthenware clay and decorates her pieces with oxides and industrial glazes.

Career and History

I came to London in 1998 from the Czech Republic. Working in different office jobs in both the private and public sectors I decided that this was not the life for me, that I needed a certain fulfilment and pleasure from what I do. I found what I was looking for when I studied my BA in Ceramics at Camberwell College of Arts. After graduation I set up a small studio at the back of my garden in North London and started developing my style, entering different exhibitions and making my way through the life as a ceramicist.
